- Question: What is this page?
- Answer: This page is a resource for players new and old to get answers to questions about the game, the development team, and the community. It is also a place to find information that can help you get the most out of your experience in the game.
The Game
- Question: What is Hex VR?
- Answer: Hex VR is a community built successor to it's predecessor in the Zero Gravity Sports genre. It began development in January of 2023 shortly after the shutdown announcement of the game that defined the genre. Hex VR is a team based, zero gravity sports game with a focus on teamwork, communication, and skill expression.
- Question: What is Hex VR not?
- Answer: Hex VR is not a remake, recreation, clone, or fan-game of anything. Hex VR, while similar in many ways to other games in it's genre, is it's own thing with its own identity and design philosophy.

- Answer: Hex VR will be in Open Beta as of March 29th, 2024. If you're reading this after that date, the game is available to download now!
- Question: What platforms is Hex VR available on?
- Answer: Hex VR is currently available on Standalone via SideQuest and App Lab for the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro. We also support PCVR through Meta headsets. Steam VR support is planned for the future.
- Question: What Game Engine is Hex VR built on?
- Answer: Hex VR is built on good ol' Unity.
- Question: Does Hex VR have crossplay?
- Answer: Yes! Hex VR has crossplay between all supported platforms.
- Question: How is moderation handled in Hex VR?
- Answer: We rely on the community to report any inappropriate behavior through our Discord bot. Please reach out to Hex-Modmail#9221 on Discord with details including the Display name of the offending Player, as well as the approximate date & time of the encounter. If you feel unsafe, please leave the lobby.
- Question: Will Hex VR continue to be updated?
- Answer: We are committed to providing updates to Hex VR for the foreseeable future. We have a roadmap of features and improvements that we're working on and are excited to share them with the community as soon as possible.
- Question: Will Hex VR have custom server support?
- Answer: We have no plans to add custom server support at this time. That very well may change in the future, but we have no announcements to make at this time.
- Question: Will Hex VR continue to be free to play?
- Answer: We only guarantee that Hex VR will be free to play during the Alpha and Beta phases of development. We have not made any announcements regarding the pricing of the game after full release.
- Question: Will Hex VR have microtransactions?
- Answer: We have not made any announcements regarding microtransactions in Hex VR. We are currently focused on developing the core gameplay experience.
- Question: Will Hex VR have a competitive mode?
- Answer: We have not made any announcements regarding a competitive mode in Hex VR. We are currently focused on developing the core gameplay experience.
The Team
- Question: What does the development team for Hex VR look like / What is Golden Gear Studios?
- Answer: Golden Gear Studios is a small independent game development studio staffed by a group of passionate volunteers. We came together to create Hex VR after the shutdown of our favorite game in order to provide a new home for the community that the founding GG Studios members are a proud part of. The team is made up of a variety of roles including Programmers, Artists, Designers, Community Managers, and many others.

- Answer: Everything we do is done in our free time and we are not paid for our work on the game. With support from the community, this may change in the future.
- Question: How can I support the development team?
- Answer: The best way to support the dev team is to provide feedback on the game, participate in the community, and review the game on SideQuest and App Lab.
- Question: How can I get involved with the development team?
- Answer: We occasionally announce the opening of role specific applications in the Discord server. If you are interested in joining the team, keep an eye out for these announcements.
The Community
- Question: Will you be partnering with any competitive leagues?
- Answer: If any competitive leagues decide to add Hex VR to their lineup, we will support them in any way we can. But we won't be seeking anything out.
- Question: How can I get involved with the community?
- Answer: The best way to get involved with the community is to participate in the Discord server, join the community events, and play the game with others. Be kind and respectful to others and you will be welcomed with open arms.
